Heey people of earth!

after a year on DA this is going to be my first journal I write. therefore I already apologize for my englisch beceause its not my first language! so im going to to my utter best haha!

Let me tell you a little bit about myself. My name is Bas Venhorst. I live in Holland. Yes thats in Europe. Im almost 20 years old and life in a small village. Im currently studying in Amsterdam doing the so called ''PABO'' thats a study where you learn to be a primary school teacher. right now im teaching 4th grade. One of the most insperational things in the world are children. there mind works diffrently then our ''grown up'' minds. they can see things we cant. they can imagine things we cant. they are without worries, boundry's or problemes. They are free spirits trying to make there own life as fun an nice as possible! Ive learned a lot from them while teaching these little rascals.

I started to like drawing when I was 12 while I discovered the magical world of manga and anime hahah! I started to buy books on how to draw anime mostly wrote by Christopher Hart. I practiced and practiced, but then avengally puberty really kicked in. and I stopped drawing for almost 2 years (still watching anime and secretly practiced magic tricks and illusions) the lovely dream when i was 14: being a magician. at age of 16 I started to draw again. but I was sick of drawing anime. everyone did it and I wanted to do my own thing. so I started to develop my own style. bought my Bamboo tablet and started to draw digital. I SUCKED AT IT, like really really really SUCKED. I thought: I will never be good at this. but after a year i was getting better bit by bit. avengelly I was beginning to love it.

at the age of 18 I worte my own childbook story called ''Max''. I added all my drawings in a movie program called: Adobe After Effects and made a short film from my story. you see my drawing move and at the same time you hear my voice reading the story. It actually was loved by quite some people. and I was approached by a childbook writer who thought it would be fun if I Illustrated one of here story''s. its called ''Mijn Griezelig enge familie'' in englisch, ''My creepy scary family'' you can find the cover of the book here [link] . its not for sale yet. she waits until next Halloween. I also did another story for a magezine that will be launched this month!
